Thanks to all who joined us on the 29th of June for the annual Atlantic Lifeboat Swim!

2024 was the 6th annual Atlantic Lifeboat Swim

The 2024 Atlantic Lifeboat Swim, hosted by the Atlantic Masters Swimming club, was another huge success, with over 140 entrants across the two distances!

We saw some amazing performances, with an exceptional winning race time for the 2km, as well as so many swimmers reaching PB’s in their longest ever swims. It was great to see a father and son duo on the Men’s Skins podium alongside Atlantic Masters Coach Brian, who is rarely spotted without a medal around his neck.

We love that so many people chose our event as their first 400m or 2km swim, and the conditions on the day were perfect for people to push themselves to reach their goals.

Huge thanks to all our sponsors, the volunteers who played a blinder, and to the crews of both the Galway RNLI Lifeboat, and OMCSU for keeping our swimmers safe on the day.

Set yourself a target

Whether this is your first sea swimming event, or you are a seasoned pro, the Atlantic Lifeboat Swim is a great target for your calendar.

Located close to the town of Oranmore, beside the Galway Bay Sailing club, the event gives you the opportunity to push yourself to a new challenge of swimming in the beautiful waters of Galway Bay.

The popular Renville Park is located just beside the pier, in case anyone wants to start the day with a ParkRun or finish with a leisurely stroll!

Fundraising for lifeboats in Galway

Last year, the Atlantic Lifeboat Swim was proud to have raised over €10,000, which was split evenly between both the RNLI Galway branch, and the Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit.

This year is the 200th Anniversary of the RNLI and we want to mark the occasion with the best day yet- join us and be part of something special!
